How Can Your Major Make the World a Better

 First of all, I would like to start by paraphrasing Jane Addams: social work did not emerge to enforce the law, but to question it. Within this framework, I believe that the main challenge of Social Work in Chile, is to fight against the current policy of public implementation where all subjects are treated as if they were in the same condition; for this, the best option is to territorialize our work, and in this way, work in the offers that are offered to those communes called "at risk". I think that as future social workers we can make a contribution to society, since that same idea of territorialization, would be much more effective than implementing a policy that cannot be changed; for the whole country. As future social workers we must intervene at the root of the problems, although it is difficult if the government does not support social development. We must stop seeing ourselves as " welfare workers", since, as was mentioned in the beginning, our profession arises to interrogate the law, not "assist" it.
